Two shows at Red Butte
Red Butte Garden is hosting two big concerts, back to back, on Sunday and Monday. Sunday’s show, starting at 7:30 p.m., is an evening with the alt-rock band Cake. Monday’s concert, starting at 7 p.m., features roots-rock legend Melissa Etheridge and up-and-coming country-pop singer Elle King as co-headliners. The Cake show is sold out; there are some tickets available for the Etheridge/King show, at redbuttegarden.org/tickets.

The Bard and beyond
The Utah Shakespeare Festival is finishing up its first weekend at Southern Utah University in Cedar City, and has a full week ahead of it. (Performances run through Oct. 7.) “Romeo & Juliet” and “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” have both had their openings in the outdoor Engelstad Theatre. Lorraine Hansberry’s “A Raisin in the Sun” has a preview Monday, ahead of its premiere Thursday, in the indoor Randall Theatre. The musical of “Jane Austen’s Emma” previews Wednesday at the Randall, where the farce “The Play That Goes Wrong” has a preview Friday. For details and tickets, go to bard.org.
Fireworks and classic rock
Stadium of Fire — the annual extravaganza of music and pre-Fourth of July fireworks — happens Saturday, starting at 8 p.m., at LaVell Edwards Stadium, on the Brigham Young University campus in Provo. The headliner this year is the rock band Journey, which is marking its 50th anniversary. The event includes a flyover by F-35 jets from Hill Air Force Base, and the biggest stadium fireworks show in the country. The show is mostly sold out, but a few tickets are available at tickets.byu.edu.
